# Wild Dark Shore

by Charlotte McConaghy (2025)

**Verdict:** Glad I read it — No regrets, no evangelism. The biggest shelf, and that's fine.

**Who I'd hand it to:** People needing a next book

## Fingerprint

Positions between two named poles. Neither pole is the good end.

- Place: far toward "the place is the book"
- Moral weight: far toward "just a story"
- Cleverness: far toward "told straight"
- Lift: between "left me heavier" and "left me lighter"
- Friction: toward "makes you work"
- Economy: toward "stretched"

## How it read

How much I wanted to keep reading, at each stage.

- Beginning: steady
- Middle: eager
- End: couldn’t stop
- Afterwards: held (stayed where it landed)

## Review

Like the book was good. I honestly don't know that I cna pinpoint why I didn't love it. Everything should be there. It is setting driven. The setting is often. There is heavy moral weight. The characters are strong and well assembled. I gueess POV bounces around a little bit, but not too much, like it adds to the story. There is some deception carried through the book and I wonder if my friction has to do wtih that. Imperfect people doing imperfect things. Like is the issue not the book, but me the reader?
